Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump following his swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20, 2025.

In his congratulatory message shared via his official X account, Mudavadi described Trump’s second inauguration as a significant historical milestone.

“Congratulations, Donald John Trump, on your inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. Your return to the White House during the 60th Presidential Inauguration marks a remarkable chapter in history, reflecting the trust and confidence the American people have placed in your leadership once again. Wishing you wisdom, strength, and success as you lead the nation forward,” he wrote.

Trump’s Swearing-In Ceremony

Donald Trump officially assumed office at noon local time (17:00 GMT) in Washington, DC, taking his oath of office indoors at the Capitol rotunda due to extreme cold weather.

“I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God,” he declared during the ceremony.

Trump, aged 78, returned to the White House after defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the November 2024 presidential election. His second term comes four years after his failed re-election bid in 2020, making him the first U.S. president to serve non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland.

Trump’s inauguration also made history as he became the first U.S. president previously convicted of criminal charges to return to office.

Pre-Inauguration Developments

In the days leading up to his inauguration, outgoing President Joe Biden issued a series of high-profile pardons, including for Dr. Anthony Fauci, General Mark Milley, and members of the January 6 committee, such as Liz Cheney. These pardons were reportedly aimed at protecting them from potential investigations under Trump’s administration.

Trump’s return to power underscores the renewed confidence of American voters in his leadership, setting the stage for a new chapter in U.S. politics.
