WhatsApp has introduced a new group call scheduling feature, enabling users to plan audio or video calls in advance within group chats.
The update, rolling out globally this week on both iOS and Android, allows users to set a date, time, and call type directly from the group call interface. Once scheduled, all members receive a notification and a calendar-style reminder in the chat, complete with a “Join Call” button when the time arrives.
According to WhatsApp, the feature is designed to make group coordination easier and more predictable, whether for friends in different time zones, community groups, or work-related meetings.
To schedule a call, users can open a group chat with at least one other participant, tap the call icon, select “Schedule a Call,” then choose the details.
The platform has also announced upcoming in-app reminders and support for scheduling multiple calls, eliminating the need for third-party calendar tools.
Recent productivity-focused updates include screen sharing during video calls, message editing and pinned messages, and voice chat for large groups where members can join without ringing everyone.
WhatsApp advised users who do not yet see the option to update their app or wait for the gradual rollout over the coming days.
