Dela Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein, who had been missing since September 2024, has finally been found and reunited with his family.

Hussein returned home on the evening of Saturday, March 8, where he was received by his loved ones in Nairobi. His reappearance was confirmed by Eldas MP Adan Keynan, who took to social media to express gratitude for his safe return.

News of Hussein’s resurfacing sparked celebrations in his home neighborhood of Pangani, as well as in Eastleigh and various parts of Wajir County. His disappearance had caused widespread concern after he was reportedly abducted along Enterprise Road on September 13, 2024.

Weeks after he went missing, tension gripped Wajir County when a body suspected to be his was discovered in Lake Yakub. However, two separate DNA tests later confirmed that the remains did not belong to the missing MCA.

On February 5, activist Bob Njagi, who was among three individuals kidnapped in Kitengela in August 2024, claimed that he had seen Hussein in captivity.

Recalling his experience, Njagi stated that while being held, he managed to glimpse through a hole in the door of the adjacent room and saw a Somali man who he later believed to be the missing MCA.

“The MCA from Wajir County was in the room next to mine. I managed to peek through the keyhole and saw him. I distinctly remember that it was Friday, September 13, when someone was brought in during the night, which was unusual. Upon further observation, I realized he was of Somali descent,” Njagi recounted.

While details surrounding Hussein’s disappearance and subsequent return remain unclear, his reappearance has brought relief to his family and the communities that had been deeply affected by his sudden vanishing.
