The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 24,000 internship vacancies for teachers in Junior Schools.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, August 12, TSC invited qualified and interested teachers to apply for the positions.
“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill twenty-four thousand teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum,” the commission stated.
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens, possess at least a Diploma in Education with a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent, including C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects, and be registered as teachers with TSC.
The commission added that candidates must be unemployed and have no history of exiting the teaching service due to disciplinary action.
They will be required to present original academic and professional certificates, as well as a Personal Accident Insurance cover for risks during the internship period.
According to TSC, recruitment will be strictly based on merit and the number of available vacancies in each county. Successful applicants will be posted to serve in junior schools within the sub-county where they were interviewed or in any other part of the county with vacancies.
Interns will be expected to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum. During the verification process, candidates must provide:
- A copy of their Teacher Registration Certificate or a print-out from the TSC online portal as proof of registration.
- A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) card, where applicable.
- A copy of their National Identity Card or Passport.
- Two coloured passport-size photographs.
- A copy of their Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Personal Identification Number (PIN).
