Six candidates have been shortlisted for the position of Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), as the recruitment process enters its final phase. Interviews are scheduled for May 27 at Harambee House, Nairobi.

The shortlisted candidates are:

  • Victor Okoth Ogwang Lando (Nakuru)
  • Selina Amsugut Iseme
  • Claris Awour Ogangah
  • Edward Katama Ngeywa (Trans Nzoia)
  • Duncan Oburu Ojwang (Homa Bay)
  • Michael Peter Otieno Okelloh (Siaya)

They were selected from a pool of 17 applicants.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, Selection Panel Chairperson Irene Asienga directed all candidates to report to the 12th Floor Boardroom at Harambee House at least 30 minutes before the interviews begin.

Applicants are required to present a valid National ID or passport, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, and relevant supporting documents.

They must also provide clearance certificates from the Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, Credit Reference Bureau, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. A stamped self-declaration form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and a recommendation letter from a relevant professional body, if applicable, are also mandatory.

Asienga cautioned that any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.

The public has been invited to submit any credible information about the candidates through sworn affidavits. Submissions must be delivered to the Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson, KNCHR, at Harambee House or sent via email to [email protected] by 5:00 pm on May 26, 2025.
