The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended the sale of tickets for the upcoming Kenya vs. Zambia match at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, following serious security breaches during the recent Kenya vs. Morocco CHAN fixture.
The suspension comes after an unprecedented breach of stadium security during the previous game, where thousands of fans without valid tickets managed to enter the stadium.
This overcrowding led to dangerous situations including gate break-ins and the use of tear gas by security personnel to restore order. The safety of fans and players remains a paramount concern for CAF and local authorities.
It has now emerged that CAF has frozen ticket sales for all the games that will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, including Kenya’s last group game against Zambia.
CityMirror has reached out to the official ticket seller, Mookh.com, for comment Via Email
The ticketing body confirmed that the ticket sales was suspended
“After security breach at Kasarani yesterday, ticket sales for Kasarani games has been suspended until further notice by the organizers” Moohk replied via email.
Further explanation from journalist Kevin Teya reports that CAF took note of the fans’ invasion, including breaching the media centre, the use of teargas, among other things.
A spot check on Mookh.com by Citymirror shows that only games at Nyayo Stadium are still up on the site.
Fans are advised to stay updated through official channels regarding ticket availability and match arrangements.
Meanwhile, the suspension serves as a reminder of the importance of strict adherence to stadium regulations to safeguard everyone involved.
