In a gazette notice dated August 15, 2025, President William Ruto announced several new appointments to the boards of state corporations, alongside reappointments and changes across various ministries.

Ruto named John Antira Ketora as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation Board for a three-year term effective immediately. At the Kenya National Shipping Line, he reappointed Levi Franklin Mghalu as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors for another three years.

At the Commission for University Education (CUE), the President appointed James Onyango Owino as the new Non-Executive Chairperson, also for three years.

The appointments, according to State House, are part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening governance in key public institutions.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretaries across different dockets also made changes within their respective ministries.

Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui appointed Antony Mwangi as a member of the Board of the Kenya Investment Authority, replacing Peter Maina Gachunga, whose appointment was revoked. He also named Joyce Kiprop Cheruiyot to the Special Economic Zones Authority for a three-year term, while reappointing Philip Coulson to continue serving on the same board.

In the agriculture sector, CS Mutahi Kagwe appointed Bernard Mpayakuo Kaparo to the Board of Trustees of the Commodities Fund for three years.

At the Ministry of Education, CS Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Aaron Iltele Lesiantam and Racheal Njenga to the Board of Trustees of the President’s Award, while naming Awuor Kennedy Otieno to the Board of the National Biosafety Authority.

In the East African Community docket, CS Beatrice Asukul appointed Margaret Lotukoi Nasilo, Hussein Dida Sora and Alex Kiratu to the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority Board.

Health CS Aden Duale appointed Olick Nereah Anyango to the Board of Kenya BioVax Institute Limited for three years.

Gender, Culture and Children Services CS Hannah Cheptumo reappointed Dorcas Obwa and Mohammed Abdi Werer to the Kenya National Library Services Board for two years.

In the water docket, CS Eric Muuga revoked Simon Ngugi Mwihaki’s appointment to the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority, but reassigned him to the National Irrigation Authority as a board member for three years. He also appointed Dancun Gituma to the Water Harvesting Authority and Jane Wambui Mucheru to the Athi Water Works Development Agency Board.
