President William Ruto has pledged to fulfil his leadership mandate, saying he is uniquely equipped to steer Kenya through transformative change and has no excuse for failure.
Speaking at State House during a meeting with leaders from Tharaka Nithi County, the President said his educational background, political experience, and grassroots roots place him in a strong position to tackle the country’s biggest challenges.
“Others before me may have had reasons for inaction – some might blame their education, others their age, or their grasp of the issues facing ordinary Kenyans,” Ruto stated. “But I have no such excuses. I must undertake this difficult job.”
Ruto cited his 15 years as a Member of Parliament and 10 years as Deputy President as crucial preparation for his current role. He also noted that he is the first PhD holder to occupy the presidency.
“I am not too old, I am well-educated, and I come from the grassroots. I understand the country’s problems firsthand,” he said.
The Head of State said Kenya has never had a leader with his mix of courage, experience, and technical know-how.
“I must tackle all the difficult assignments. I have combined all my predecessors. I have the courage of Jomo Kenyatta, the understanding of Daniel Moi, the education of Mwai Kibaki, and I shared in the plan with Uhuru Kenyatta. So, I must deliver,” he declared.
Ruto also outlined his administration’s priorities, including transforming agriculture, stabilizing the economy, reforming healthcare, and modernizing infrastructure.
“This is the assignment I have, and I must do it,” he said, calling on Kenyans to support and pray for him as he works to deliver lasting change.
