President William Ruto has announced additional state appointments, a day after a cabinet reshuffle.
In a dispatch from State House on December 20, 2024, Ruto appointed several prominent figures, including allies of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, to various positions.
Notably, former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth, popularly known as “PK,” was named the Chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
Kenneth was a key figure in the Azimio coalition, which backed Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid.
Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria was also appointed to chair the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.
According to the dispatch signed by Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Osiya, the appointments were made to strengthen the leadership of state corporations and agencies.
“It is notified that His Excellency the President has effected additional appointments to the senior ranks of the Executive. These appointments include roles at the Central Bank of Kenya, the Executive Office of the President, and other key positions within the top governance organs of our State corporations and agencies,” read the statement.
