President William Ruto has responded to critics speculating that he will only serve one term, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead Kenya.
Speaking on Sunday, January 12, during a church service in Dagoretti North, Nairobi, Ruto reflected on the skepticism he faced before becoming president. He attributed his rise to divine intervention, emphasizing his humble beginnings.
“There are people who are talking about one term, two terms, three terms. I want to remind them that there were those who never thought I’d have any term. But who is God? I am proud and grateful that God has entrusted me with the responsibility of leading this nation,” Ruto remarked.
He further stated, “I came from humble beginnings. My family was not known, but today, I stand as the president of Kenya. There is work God has assigned me in this country, and I will accomplish it.”
The president also urged Kenyans to unite in building the country, stating that progress cannot be achieved by one individual or region alone. He reiterated the importance of collective effort in addressing the nation’s challenges.
Ruto’s remarks come days after he declared that his government’s track record would be his primary competitor in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on January 9, he dismissed threats from political rivals, maintaining that his administration’s economic policies were yielding positive results.
“I urge my fellow leaders to focus on working together. The day for politics will come. There is no need for threats or intimidation. When the time comes, let everyone present their agenda,” Ruto said.
The president’s message underscores his confidence in his leadership and a commitment to fostering unity and development across the country.
