The 31-year-old rapper already had six points on his licence

Rapper Stormzy, born Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior, has been handed a nine-month driving ban after being caught using a mobile phone behind the wheel of his Rolls-Royce in London.

The 31-year-old artist pleaded guilty via letter to the offense, which took place on Addison Road, West Kensington, in March last year. District Judge Andrew Sweet, presiding over Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, criticized Stormzy’s driving record, describing his actions as “dangerous and irresponsible.”

The court heard that an undercover police officer observed Stormzy using his phone while driving and confronted him by knocking on the tinted passenger window, saying, “Get rid of your tints and get off your phone.”

Stormzy’s solicitor informed the court that the rapper fully accepted responsibility for his actions. The court was also told that Stormzy already had six penalty points on his licence due to prior speeding violations.

The ban comes after a previous incident where Stormzy admitted to driving a Lamborghini Urus with illegally tinted front windows that allowed only 4% light transmission, breaching the legal requirement of 70%.

The judge emphasized the importance of adhering to road safety regulations, citing the potential risks posed by such violations.
