Raila Odinga Declares Support for Governor Sakaja’s Re-election

Date:

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has thrown his weight behind the re-election campaign of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja as the Nairobi 2027 gubernatorial race continues to take shape.

While speaking at Bomas of Kenya on Monday during a special prayer service organized for him as he heads to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for AUC chair elections Raila made the declaration saying that he wants the countries capital to reman firm and Sakaja is the right person for the job.

“I want Nairobi to remain firm, I want this son of mine (Johnson Sakaja) to hold it and do a good job. We are opposing the bad things happening here,” Raila declared.

Raila’s declaration is set to spark a heated debate around his party since Sakaja won the seat on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket and he is likely to defend his seat using the same party. Moreover, youthful Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino who is known for his massive support for Raila Odinga and his Westlands counterpart Tim Wanyonyi have already expressed interests to the City’s top seat a factor that is also expected to send a sharp political wave to ODM.
