President William Ruto has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to fostering peace and stability in Africa, emphasizing the nation’s role in resolving conflicts across the continent.
In a statement shared on his official X account, President Ruto highlighted Kenya’s long-standing tradition of providing expertise, skills, and resources to address complex conflicts. “Kenya has a long-standing history of providing expertise, skills, and resources in finding solutions to complex conflicts in Africa,” he stated.
Ruto reiterated Kenya’s support for ongoing peace efforts in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are working together to restore stability. “We fully support the resolutions of the Joint Summit of the EAC-SADC and the African Union Peace and Security Council that dialogue among the parties is the way out of the current crisis,” he added.
The President’s remarks came after his meeting with European Union Special Envoy to the Great Lakes Region, Johan Borgstam, and European Union Ambassador to Kenya, Henriette Geiger, at State House Nairobi. The discussions centered on strengthening diplomatic efforts and fostering international cooperation to resolve conflicts in the region.
Kenya has been actively involved in regional peacebuilding initiatives, including mediation efforts and peacekeeping missions. With its strong diplomatic engagements, the country continues to play a crucial role in shaping the stability and security landscape in Africa.
