Super Metro bus

A tragic incident has rocked the public transport sector after a passenger lost his life when he was allegedly thrown out of a moving Super Metro bus over a fare dispute.

The passenger, identified as Gilbert, was reportedly involved in a disagreement with the bus conductor over Ksh 30 while the vehicle was en route to Kahawa Wendani. Witnesses claim that in a fit of rage, the tout opened the door and forcefully ejected him from the moving bus.

Gilbert succumbed to multiple fractures, including broken ribs, arms, and legs, as confirmed in a preliminary report. He died on the spot, leaving witnesses and the public in shock.

The incident has since sparked nationwide outrage, with Kenyans expressing disbelief that a life could be lost over such a minor dispute. Many have taken to social media to demand justice, calling for stricter regulations in the public transport sector.

In response to the public outcry, Super Metro issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the incident and extending condolences to the victim’s family.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident involving one of the buses operating under our company’s name. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” read part of the statement.

The company acknowledged the public anger, stating that human life is sacred and should never be lost in such a senseless manner. It further announced that the crew involved in the incident had been suspended pending investigations.

“While the matter is under investigation, we want to assure everyone that we take safety very seriously. We do not condone reckless behavior, and as a precautionary measure, the crew involved in this incident has been suspended,” the statement added.

Super Metro assured the public of full cooperation with authorities to ensure justice is served. Additionally, the company pledged to reinforce strict safety protocols and training to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter, with law enforcement expected to take action against those found culpable.
