Michael Olunga and Engin Firat

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has officially parted ways with Qatari side Al Duhail after four-and-a-half years, marking the end of a historic stint that saw him become the club’s all-time leading scorer with 130 goals.

The former Gor Mahia and Thika United striker announced his departure on social media, confirming the end of his contract and expressing gratitude for the memories he made at the club.

“Veni Vidi Vici. Thank you for everything, Al Duhail. Leaving as all-time goal scorer, 130 goals and memories, thank you for the trust,” Olunga posted.

In a farewell video shared by Al Duhail, the 31-year-old paid tribute to the club’s leadership, technical bench, teammates, and support staff for the role they played in his success.

“I want to thank everyone at the club, starting with the president, the vice president, and the backroom staff, who have shown great faith in me since I arrived,” said Olunga.

He also expressed appreciation for the coaches and players he worked alongside, saying, “I want to say thank you to all the players I’ve played with and shared memories with, as well as the subordinate and medical staff.”

Reflecting on his time in Qatar, Olunga described his tenure as a rewarding chapter in his career, despite a disappointing final season that ended without silverware.

“It has been a good four and a half seasons since I joined. The support I received on and off the pitch has been tremendous. We’ve shared great moments and also endured difficult times, but overall, it has been a fantastic experience,” he said.

The former Girona FC forward did not reveal his next destination but hinted at future plans, leaving fans eager to see his next move.

“Today, I leave with my head held high and proud of what we have achieved. Now, let’s see what the future holds.”

Olunga departs as a legend at Al Duhail, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that will be difficult to surpass.
