The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has provided an update on its national grassroots elections held on Wednesday, reporting a smooth process in over 98 per cent of polling units across the country.
According to National Elections Committee (NEC) Chairperson Emily Awita, Presiding Officers at each polling station guided members and candidates through the exercise. In most cases, members reached a consensus, while others opted for voting by show of hands.
“Overall, the exercise was successful, except in a few polling units where incidents of violence and disruptions were reported,” Awita stated.
She assured members that the party will investigate areas where disruptions occurred and take action against those responsible, regardless of their status within the party or society.
Awita noted that ongoing rains in various parts of the country caused some delays but did not deter members from participating in the democratic process.
The party has started receiving results from Presiding Officers nationwide, with outcomes being uploaded to the ODM election portal. So far, results have been received from Mandera, Mombasa, Lamu, Wajir, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kilifi, Siaya, Homa Bay, Busia, and Kisumu. Other counties, including Taita Taveta, Kirinyaga, Embu, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Bomet, Nakuru, Marsabit, Kwale, West Pokot, and Garissa, have also submitted their results.

Awita acknowledged that slow network connections in some areas were causing delays but assured members that election officials are working tirelessly to finalize the results by the end of the day.
Candidates dissatisfied with the outcomes have been invited to file formal appeals through the party’s online portal: ODM Election Appeals.
Appellants are required to pay a fee of Ksh3,000 within 24 hours of the results being declared. The deadline for submitting appeals is Friday, November 29.
