The National Police Service (NPS) has cautioned Kenyans against falling for a fake advertisement circulating online about the recruitment of police constables.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 29, the NPS dismissed the poster as fraudulent and urged the public to ignore it.

The deceptive advertisement falsely claims that a police recruitment exercise is scheduled for February 3, 2025, and includes misleading details on application requirements, recruitment centers, and procedures. It also features fabricated contact details and government logos in an attempt to appear authentic.

While debunking the fake notice, the NPS clarified that no such recruitment of police constables is currently underway.

Separately, the police service is set to conduct a cadet officer recruitment exercise later in the year. According to Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, the process will take place in the second half of 2025 as part of ongoing police reforms.

Omollo explained that the recruitment aligns with recommendations made by the David Maraga-led National Taskforce on Police Reforms. However, he noted that the exercise had been delayed due to budgetary constraints.

“We are implementing crucial reforms within the police service, including the reintroduction of cadet officer recruitment. This will ensure that not all officers must begin their careers at the same entry level,” Omollo stated.

The NPS has urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation and to rely on official government channels for verified updates on recruitment and other service matters.
