Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has revealed a significant lifestyle change as part of his effort to settle down and find a wife.
The youthful legislator shared that he decided to quit alcohol following advice from friends who told him sobriety would improve his chances of finding a life partner.
In a lighthearted video posted on his Instagram, Salasya disclosed that he has since switched to soft drinks and ensures he returns home before nightfall.
“Niliambiwa nikitaka bibi niwache makali, sasa niko hapa napiga shots ya Fanta mbio mbio giza isinipate inje,” Salasya quipped.
Salasya’s decision to give up alcohol aligns with his earlier views on substance use. On December 3, 2024, he shared his belief that marijuana users tend to be more peaceful compared to alcohol drinkers, whom he described as unruly.
In a post on his Instagram account, the MP proposed the legalization of marijuana and the banning of alcohol.
“People who take weed do not cause more problems than those taking alcohol. Weed can be legalised but alcohol can be banned. Watu wanakunywa pombe hupenda kelele sana than wa bangi,” he wrote.
A Complex Search for Love
Salasya’s journey to find a life partner has been far from smooth. In one notable attempt, he publicly expressed interest in Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe, a pursuit that ended with a public exchange of insults after she declined his advances.

Similarly, in 2022, Salasya expressed admiration for content creator Azziad Nasenya, who also turned him down.
In a past interview, the MP reflected on his single status, describing the qualities he seeks in a partner. He expressed a preference for a woman who balances ambition with the willingness to embrace a traditional, rural lifestyle.
“The Bible says submission is key. It’s Biblical, it’s spiritual; you should be submissive. It’s hard for me to find someone because girls nowadays want to stay in Nairobi, but I want someone who can live in the village. Someone advised me to get a teacher or banker—someone busy so they won’t bring me stress,” he shared.
Salasya also expressed his dislike of dating virgins, viewing it as a responsibility he would prefer to avoid.
“When I realise she is a virgin I will allow her to go have another man to break her virginity and come back to me. I hate to labour to break a woman for another man hehe…though sisi vienyeji we are better at breaking virgins than born town who are very weak on the bed,” he said.
