The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has announced its search for a new Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its Secretariat.

The position is key to advancing the organization’s mission of fostering national harmony and equality among Kenya’s diverse ethnic communities.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the NCIC outlined the qualifications and responsibilities for the role. According to the Commission, the CEO will act as the principal administrator of the NCIC and serve as its chief advisor.

The successful candidate will replace Harrison Kariuki, who is currently serving as acting CEO. The position entails overseeing the day-to-day management of the Commission’s affairs and staff, ensuring the organization fulfills its mandate to promote peaceful coexistence and provide expert advice to the government on cohesion-related issues.

“The Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will perform such other functions as may be assigned by the Commission and the law,” the NCIC noted.

Applicants must meet stringent qualifications, including a Master’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution and a minimum of 18 years of experience in a related area, with at least eight years in a senior management role.

In addition to academic and professional qualifications, candidates must demonstrate strong leadership qualities, integrity, and a commitment to the national values outlined in Chapter Six of Kenya’s Constitution, 2010, as well as Article 10.

“The Commission is seeking a highly professional, self-driven individual who is dedicated to promoting cohesion and integration within the country,” the NCIC stated.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit their applications through the NCIC’s official application portal by 5 p.m. on February 4, 2025. Further details about the job specifications and application process are available on the portal.
