Nakuru man surrenders to police over alleged stabbing his lover multiple times

Date:

A man accused of stabbing his partner in Nakuru on Thursday, November 21, has surrendered to the police.

The suspect, Elias Mutugi Njeru, turned himself in at Nakuru Police Station on Monday, November 25, accompanied by his lawyer.

In a statement, the police confirmed his surrender and subsequent arrest.

“Today, 25/11/2024, Elias Mutugi Njeru, a male adult and a suspect in the attempted murder case of Florence Wanjiku Gichohi, reported at Menengai Police Station, surrendered at Nakuru Police Station in the company of his lawyer, Gakuhi Chege, and Associates Advocates.

“He has been re-arrested by police and placed in custody while appearing fit, pending transfer to Menengai Police Station,” the statement read.

The incident was first reported on November 22 at Kiamunyi Police Post in Nakuru. Njeru is accused of stabbing his lover and business associate, Florence Wanjiku, at their rental home in Olive Estate following an argument.

According to preliminary investigations, the altercation was sparked by personal and business-related disputes. Police had launched a manhunt for Njeru after he fled the scene, leaving Wanjiku hospitalized in serious condition.

“The victim was attacked by her boyfriend, Elias Njeru Mutugi, who is also her business associate at Indigenous Land Properties Limited. She is currently admitted to a hospital in serious condition,” police stated on Saturday.

Wanjiku recounted that the argument arose after she asked Njeru to end their relationship. The confrontation turned violent, leading to the stabbing and severe injuries, including severed fingers.

Police had earlier urged the suspect to surrender, which he eventually did. Njeru remains in custody as investigations continue.
