Anne Nanyama Wetang’ula, the mother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, has passed away. Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka announced her demise on Friday, December 20, 2024.
The late Mama Anne Nanyama was also the mother of Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi and Fred Wetang’ula, among others.
“I have received the sorrowful news of the passing of Mama Anne Nanyama Wetang’ula, the beloved mother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Fred Wetang’ula, and others,” Governor Lusaka stated.
In his tribute, Governor Lusaka described Mama Anne as a remarkable figure who touched lives through her compassion and selflessness.
“A remarkable community mobilizer, mentor, and family matriarch, she positively transformed countless lives through her compassion, wisdom, and selfless deeds. During this profoundly difficult time, may her family and loved ones find comfort and strength in the cherished memories of her remarkable life and the enduring love she leaves behind,” he added.
