Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has expressed a willingness to collaborate with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on Monday, December 23, Karua stated that she was open to working with like-minded leaders in opposing President William Ruto’s policies. However, she clarified that no discussions had taken place regarding forming an alliance.
Karua acknowledged that while Gachagua’s past actions in government had irritated her, they were not personal enemies.
“I have not talked to him, and he has not sought me out, but I cannot rule out talking to anybody. He is not my enemy. Kenya has one common enemy, and that is William Ruto and his regime,” Karua noted.
She further added, “The fact that I have not talked to him does not make him my enemy. He may have done things that irritated or annoyed me, but that is life. People can always fix the broken. At the moment, we are not talking.”
Karua was among the leaders who criticized Gachagua for his remarks and conduct while in government. Notably, the two were running mates for the leading candidates in the 2022 elections and clashed during the Deputy Presidential Debate.
Meanwhile, Gachagua, following his impeachment, revealed plans to engage other leaders ahead of the 2027 elections, hinting at forming a coalition to challenge Ruto’s administration.
Current indications suggest that Gachagua and Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka might join forces as they strategize for the 2027 polls.
