Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr has come out to publicly slum former Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent remarks on US president Donald Trump to pause foreign aid.

Kenya through USAID was one of the biggest beneficiaries of the foreign aid which offered a boost to the health and employment sector and its cut served the country a severe loss and need for more restructuring. Responding to the situation, the former head of state said that African leaders should find solutions to their problems and stop looking up for developed nations for support.

Uhuru Kenyatta’s sentiments sparked mixed reactions with the pro-government politicians merging against him.

Speaking on Thursday 6th, the Makueni governor disagreed with Uhuru saying that the former President was part of the cause of the country’s problems and should not be laughing at the tribulations that Kenyans are going through after Donald Trump made his decision.

“I disagree entirely with President Uhuru Kenyatta because if that was his thought when he was the president of Kenya, he should have said so when he was the president. He can’t say so when he is out of office, and he left us with all these deals. These deals were done while he was in office and therefore, he can’t laugh at us because I think the former president was laughing at us and he was laughing at people he used to serve. I think as a nation we must come together beyond our little parochial politics.” the governor said.
