In a recent development, Adrian Kamotho Njenga & Company Advocates, representing the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, have issued a strongly worded letter to Oringe Waswa & Opany Advocates, who are acting for Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, dated January 8, 2025. This letter addresses an alleged defamation case involving their client against the Governor.
According to the correspondence, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah instructed his legal team to respond to a letter from Oringe Waswa & Opany Advocates dated January 6, 2025. They stated that their client was deeply troubled by accusations from Governor Natembeya, whom they described as having a notorious reputation for causing harm.
The letter from Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah’s legal team accuses Governor Natembeya of making public confessions of heinous acts, including a statement where he allegedly mentioned that upon being sworn in, the President was provided with tools like the Constitution, the Bible, and a machete to “butcher and slaughter people,” powers which he claimed were passed down to him.
Furthermore, it was reported in the letter that Governor Natembeya had allegedly made another disturbing statement during a conversation with CS Fred Matiang’i in Nairobi, claiming they had been responsible for the deaths of fifty people.
Adrian Kamotho Njenga & Company Advocates emphasized that Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah has a record untainted by such vile acts or human rights abuses. They criticized Governor Natembeya’s public service record as being marred by misconduct, suggesting he had previously given shoot-to-kill orders against unarmed citizens.
The letter firmly dismissed any notion that time could erase Governor Natembeya’s criminal history, warning that justice would eventually prevail. They demanded an immediate apology from Natembeya for the slanderous remarks, threatening legal proceedings should he fail to comply. The advocates advise Governor Natembeya to conduct himself appropriately, indicating that any legal action against their client would be ineffective.
