KTN news anchor Ali Manzu has been appointed Chairperson of the Mombasa County Creative Economy Taskforce. The announcement, made on Monday, December 23, aligns with Governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir’s Mwanzo Mpya manifesto.

“The County Government of Mombasa, under the Mwanzo Mpya Manifesto, is committed to nurturing and developing the creative economy by facilitating innovation, talent, research, production, distribution, and exploitation of intellectual property, including audiovisual arts, performing arts, visual arts, design, and literary works,” the Governor stated in the appointment notice.

The newly formed nine-member task force will provide advice and recommendations to bolster the creative economy of Mombasa County.

The other members of the taskforce include Caroline Ngorobi as Vice-Chairperson, Awadh Salim, Hellen Mwanzia, Kessi Juma, Michel Jerry, Daudi Anguka, and Margaret Matunda as members, while Esther Ingolo will serve as Secretary.

Their six-month tenure began on December 20, according to the notice.

Manzu, who is also the Swahili Deputy Editor at KTN, has worked at the Standard Group for over a decade.

His appointment drew praise from colleagues and fans on social media.

“Congratulations bro Ali Manzu, I am confident you will do an exceptional job for the creative economy in Mombasa,” wrote Mac Otani on X.

“Congratulations my friend for your appointment as the chairperson of the newly established nine-member taskforce on the creative economy industry in Mombasa,” Elkana Jacob posted.

Former colleague and ex-KTN news anchor Lindah Oguttu also congratulated Manzu, stating, “Congratulations my brother Ali Manzu. You so deserve this.”
