The Standard Media Group’s Kenya Television Network (KTN) has announced the merger of its two major channels, KTN Home and KTN News, into a single unified brand, KTN.
In a statement released on Monday, December 2, KTN revealed that the merger is intended to provide audiences with a broader and more comprehensive content offering under one brand.
“Since 1990, KTN has been a beloved part of your lives, growing into a heritage brand cherished by millions. From hard-hitting news to captivating entertainment, we’ve been your trusted companion, amplifying voices and shaping stories that matter,” the statement read in part.
The station noted that the move will combine the strengths of both KTN Home and KTN News, delivering family entertainment and trusted journalism to a diverse audience.
“The new KTN offers something for everyone: in-depth news, investigative stories, local dramas, Hollywood movies, talk shows, sports, youth content, and so much more,” the statement added.

KTN also assured viewers of an enhanced viewing experience across multiple platforms, including television, laptops, and mobile devices, with passionate and fearless journalists continuing to prioritize factual reporting.
“Wherever you watch—on TV, laptop, or mobile—we promise a rich, captivating experience. With passionate and fearless journalists leading the way, KTN remains committed to putting facts first—because you come first,” the station emphasized.
KTN, the first privately owned television station in Kenya, was established in 1990. In 2015, it expanded its offerings by launching KTN News, a 24-hour news channel that gained popularity for its comprehensive coverage.
The merger aims to streamline the station’s operations while ensuring its audience continues to enjoy a mix of news and entertainment under the trusted KTN brand.
