For apartments and flats, the report indicates that Nairobi residents pay an average of Ksh7,500 monthly for bedsitters. One-bedroom units average Ksh8,500, while two-bedroom apartments are rented at Ksh15,000. Four-bedroom apartments cost an average of Ksh30,000.

Bungalows

Single-standing houses attract higher rental costs. A one-bedroom bungalow averages Ksh13,000, while a two-bedroom bungalow costs Ksh18,000. The average rent for a three-bedroom bungalow is Ksh65,000.

Townhouses

Three-bedroom townhouses in Nairobi command an average monthly rent of Ksh70,000, underscoring their premium status in the housing market.

In compounds where tenants share facilities, studios cost an average of Ksh8,000 per month. One-bedroom units are rented at Ksh6,000, while two-bedroom units average Ksh9,000.

For informal housing, KNBS reported that a one-bedroom shanty in Nairobi costs an average of Ksh2,500, reflecting the economic challenges of low-income households.
