The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has unveiled a fully digital system for registering health facilities, marking a major milestone in improving service delivery and transparency.

According to the council, the shift from manual, paper-based processes to a secure, user-friendly online platform aligns with the government’s digital transformation agenda.

“This move is part of our long-term strategy to streamline operations by leveraging technology,” KMPDC stated.

The new platform guides applicants through a step-by-step process to input key details such as the facility name, location, classification, director(s), services offered, available personnel, and certified documentation to prove legal compliance.

KMPDC said the system improves data accuracy, allows real-time audits, and enables automated validation. It also centralises digital records, making updates and retrievals more efficient.

Applicants can access the system 24/7, while internal processes are enhanced through automated alerts and streamlined approvals.

“Importantly, registration is granted only after all submitted information is verified. Any discrepancies lead to automatic rejection, stressing the need for honest and accurate submissions,” the council said.

Once inspected by KMPDC officers, applications are processed within 21 working days.

The platform is fully compliant with the Data Protection Act, 2019, and protects sensitive applicant data through encrypted submissions, audit logs, and restricted access.

To improve customer experience, applicants will receive email notifications at every stage of the registration process until final approval.

KMPDC described the digital system as more than a technical upgrade—calling it a complete transformation in how the council executes its mandate.

By embracing digital tools, KMPDC is making the registration process faster, more transparent, and more accessible while strengthening public confidence in Kenya’s health regulatory system.
