A Member of the Kitui County Assembly is in police custody over his alleged role in the theft of mobile phone accessories valued at Ksh.1.9 million.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Ikanga Ward MCA Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi was arrested on Tuesday, June 3, after he was positively identified from CCTV footage linked to the February 8, 2025, theft incident.
According to detectives, the stolen items had been dispatched from Buscar Courier Services along River Road in Nairobi and were en route to a client in Mombasa when they vanished.
“The arrest followed a positive identification after CCTV footage of the scene was analyzed, which captured the suspect leaving with the parcel,” read a statement by the DCI.
Musyoka reportedly did not reveal that he was an elected official when he was spotted at the courier company’s Nairobi office. Security personnel detained him and handed him over to officers at Central Police Station.
It was only after his detention that police established his identity, before transferring him to Mombasa, where detectives are continuing with investigations.
