Entrepreneur Khalif Kairo Refutes Bankruptcy Claims, Clarifies Car Yard Situation

Entrepreneur Joseph Kairo Wambui, popularly known as Khalif Kairo, has dismissed allegations of bankruptcy surrounding his company, Kai and Karo, which specializes in car sales and importation.

The rumors surfaced after images circulated on social media, showing an almost empty car yard linked to the company.

In a video shared on Wednesday, Kairo addressed the allegations, terming them a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

“Our company has faced challenges in recent months, just like many other businesses in Kenya. However, as a young company, we’ve been subjected to one of the most aggressive smear campaigns,” he said.

Kairo reassured customers and stakeholders that Kai and Karo remains operational and dismissed rumors of an impending closure.

“Kai and Karo is not going anywhere. I am not closing the company. We are not bankrupt and are still in business,” he emphasized.

He explained that the car yard on Kiambu Road, which appeared empty in the viral photos, is undergoing renovations. The yard and showrooms are set to reopen on January 7, 2025.

“We temporarily closed operations on December 23 to carry out renovations aimed at improving our facilities, especially on Kiambu Road. This is why there are no cars on the lot,” Kairo clarified.

Kairo admitted that the company has encountered difficulties, assuring customers that these challenges will be addressed in 2025.

“Challenges are part of business. At times, things don’t go as planned, and entrepreneurs face legal and operational hurdles. But every phase like this is temporary, and we are working through it,” he noted.

The 28-year-old entrepreneur also denied allegations that the company failed to deliver vehicles to clients who had paid, an issue that has fueled speculation about his arrest.

“Claims that I have scammed any customer are completely false. I have always delivered on my commitments and will continue to do so,” Kairo reiterated.

Facing Online Attacks

Kairo attributed the allegations to targeted online attacks and rumors about financial troubles within the company.

Despite the ongoing criticism, he remains optimistic and committed to continuing his business ventures.

“All these claims are part of doing business. I won’t stop working or growing the company because of baseless accusations,” he concluded.

Kai and Karo is set to resume full operations in early January, promising improved services and facilities to its customers.
