The main suspect in the brutal killing of a man aged 22, has been arrested following a nationwide manhunt.
Robert Cheruiyot, whose actions were recorded and shared widely on social media on October 31, is currently in custody at Ruaraka Police Station. His alleged accomplice is being held at Longisa Police Station as investigations continue.
The tragic incident reportedly began when Cheruiyot arrived at Sang’s residence in Teduet village, Chemaner area, Bomet County. Cheruiyot accused Sang of stealing a chicken, forcibly taking him from his home. The situation escalated into what authorities describe as a severe assault.
“The distressing sequence of events began when Cheruiyot reportedly arrived at Sang’s residence in Teduet village, located in the Chemaner area of Bomet County, accusing him of stealing his chicken. Sang was forcibly taken by Cheruiyot, and the accusations escalated into what has been described as severe assault.” DCI said.
Reports indicate that Sang was hanged using a chain attached to a pulley, a horrifying scene that left him unconscious. Cheruiyot then allegedly returned the victim to his home in that state.
The young man’s death was confirmed at Longisa Referral Hospital, where his body remains in the morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, detectives searched Cheruiyot’s residence and recovered critical evidence, including a pulley, chain, and an empty jerrycan suspected of containing diesel. At Sang’s home, they also found diesel-soaked clothing, further implicating the suspects.
Both Cheruiyot and his accomplice are set to face charges related to the murder. Authorities continue to investigate to ensure justice for Sang and his family.
