Anthony Wambani, a Kenyan midfielder, has signed a one-year contract extension with Swedish club FC Arlanda, solidifying his stay for the upcoming season after a stellar debut year with the team.

Wambani, who began his career at Bandari FC, joined FC Arlanda from Vasalunds IF ahead of the 2024 season. His standout performances were instrumental in the club’s promotion to Sweden’s third tier, earning him the title of Division 2 Norra Svealand’s best midfielder.

Announcing the new deal, FC Arlanda expressed their delight at retaining the defensive midfielder. “FC Arlanda is pleased to confirm that Anthony Wambani has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club for another season,” the statement read in part.

The club lauded Wambani’s contributions, describing him as an experienced, composed, and intelligent

player who controlled the midfield with authority throughout the season.

“Anthony was the missing piece in our Division 2 squad, which clinched the league title. His calm demeanor and exceptional game intelligence allowed him to dominate matches from midfield,” the club noted.

His recognition as the best midfielder in Division 2 Norra Svealand for 2024 was widely anticipated by those who followed his performances. Extending his contract was a straightforward decision for the club.

With over 90 appearances in Ettan Norra and experience in Superettan, Wambani remains a pivotal figure in FC Arlanda’s plans for the next season.

The club expressed excitement about his continued presence in the team and wished him success in the upcoming campaign.

Having played in Sweden since 2018, Wambani is determined to progress to higher leagues and build on his recent accomplishments.
