Kenya should learn from US elections says Kalonzo

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called on Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take lessons from the recent U.S. election process.

Kalonzo pointed out that the U.S. held its elections on November 5, with votes counted, tallied, and results announced within 24 hours.

The speedy, free, fair and credible election process compelled the former Vice President to urge the IEBC to borrow a page from the US’s book.

The former Vice President highlighted that over 150 million Americans participated in the historic election, and their votes were swiftly processed and results communicated to the public. He commended the U.S. for conducting a fast, free, fair, and credible election, urging Kenya’s electoral body to adopt similar practices.

“Over 150 million Americans voted in the historic November 5 election, and their votes were counted, tallied, and announced in less than 24 hours. I believe Kenya, and particularly the IEBC, can learn from the United States on how to conduct a free, fair, and credible election,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo also extended his congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump, noting that the American people have placed their trust in Trump’s vision and leadership as reflected in the Electoral College and popular vote results.

“I extend my congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” he stated. “I wish you every success and look forward to working with you.”

Kalonzo’s remarks come amid discussions on improving Kenya’s electoral processes to enhance public confidence and ensure timely results in future elections.

Early results indicate that Trump has surpassed the 270 Electoral College votes needed to secure the presidency.

Speaking to supporters at his campaign headquarters in Florida, Trump vowed not to rest until Americans receive the future they deserve. He acknowledged the country’s current struggles, warning that without immediate action, the situation could worsen.

Trump described his projected win as an opportunity to “Make America Great Again” and expressed gratitude to the American people for electing him.

UK prime minister congratulated Donald trump and assured him that UK as their close allies they will stand with him in defend of their shared values

“Congratulations to president-elect Trump on your historic victory i look forward to working with you in your years ahead,”  Keir said.

“As the closest allies, we stand with your shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.

President of European Union   Ursula Von der Leyen congratulates trump saying “I warmly congratulate Donald J. Trump. The EU and the US are more than just allies. We are bound by a true partnership between our people, uniting 800 million citizens. So let’s work together on a strong transatlantic agenda that keeps delivering for them”

President of republic of France also took social media to congratulates trump  saying “Congratulations, President @realDonaldTrump. Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”

Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky said he looks forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership.

He added that they hope for continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States.

“I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the “peace through strength” approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together.”
