The Kenya Railways Corporation has announced the suspension of commuter train services on the Limuru-Nairobi route for the morning of Monday, November 25.
In a statement, the corporation cited unavoidable circumstances as the reason for the disruption, confirming that the train operating on the route would not be available.
“We wish to notify members of the public that due to unavoidable circumstances, the train that plies the Limuru – Nairobi CBD route will not run this morning,” the statement read.
However, Kenya Railways reassured commuters that trains serving other routes, including Lukenya, Syokimau, Embakasi Village, and Ruiru, would continue to operate as scheduled.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and will provide updates on service resumption during the day,” the corporation added.
This announcement follows a similar suspension on November 12, when Kenya Railways halted the Nairobi-Kisumu train services due to ongoing line rehabilitation.
At the time, the corporation explained that the Kisumu Safari Train service would remain suspended but was expected to resume by the festive season.
“The Kisumu Safari Train service is currently suspended due to ongoing line rehabilitation. Plans to restore the service are at an advanced stage,” Kenya Railways stated.
The Nairobi-Kisumu train services were initially disrupted earlier this year after heavy rains and flooding damaged sections of the railway line.
