Kenya and Tanzania have taken a significant step towards enhancing regional air connectivity following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania.
The strategic agreement aims to foster deeper cooperation between the two national carriers, targeting improvements in several critical areas including route and network development, cargo handling, maintenance and repair operations (MRO), safety standards, technological innovation, and human resource exchange.
Officials from both airlines emphasized that the MoU reflects a shared commitment to building efficient, seamless, and sustainable air services that will unlock new economic opportunities across East and Southern Africa.
The collaboration is expected to facilitate better connectivity for passengers and cargo, reduce operational costs through shared resources, and promote the aviation sector as a key driver of regional development.
The agreement also signals a renewed spirit of cooperation between Kenya and Tanzania in line with the broader goals of the East African Community (EAC) and African Union’s Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) initiative.
