The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary traffic disruption on a section of Waiyaki Way linking with the Southern and Western Bypass.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, November 14, KeNHA stated that the disruption will occur at the Gitaru interchange due to scheduled roadworks.
The closure will take place from Tuesday, November 19, to Thursday, December 19.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary traffic disruption at Gitaru interchange on A8 (Waiyaki Way) and the Southern Bypass to Western Bypass. This is due to scheduled roadworks for the construction of the Right-Hand Side (RHS) Carriageway between the Southern Bypass and Western Bypass, from Tuesday, November 19, 2024, to Thursday, December 19, 2024,” KeNHA stated.
The authority urged motorists to adhere to the traffic management plan and cooperate with traffic officers on-site.

The construction of Gitaru Interchange is taking shape
This temporary closure comes as KeNHA also shared updates on the progress of the Gitaru interchange construction.
In an update on November 12, the authority revealed that once completed, the interchange will improve commuting times and provide easier access to various intersections. “The construction of the Gitaru Interchange is progressing well. This major interchange will link the Southern Bypass, Western Bypass, and A8 Road, ensuring seamless connectivity and enhanced road safety. Upon completion, the interchange is set to offer faster commuting, easier access to various intersections, and contribute to the overall growth of Nairobi and beyond,” KeNHA explained
