Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has announced that the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be released within 10 days.
Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, January 2, during an education tour to prepare for school reopening, Kipsang assured Kenyans there would be no delays in releasing the Form Four exam results.
He explained that the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is currently finalizing the analysis of the results.
“This is the second year we are releasing results at the beginning of the year. When we released them in December, there were complaints that the process was rushed.
“We decided to take our time to ensure every issue is addressed for a smooth release of results.” said ps
Kipsang acknowledged the heightened anxiety among parents and students, noting it might stem from the absence of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations this year.
“But what is different this year is that we did not have KCPE exams, so it feels like something is missing. However, I assure you the KCSE results will be released within the next 10 days,” he reiterated.
Kipsang also addressed concerns about exam malpractice during the 2024 KCSE examinations, stating that KNEC is thoroughly reviewing the results to maintain integrity.
“This year, we implemented structures to ensure the seamless administration of exams. Examiners have been given adequate time to assess the papers, ensuring that the results reflect the students’ efforts over the past four years,” he said.
The PS reassured the public that the integrity of the KCSE results remains uncompromised, emphasizing KNEC’s commitment to upholding transparency and fairness.
In addition to the KCSE exams, KNEC is analyzing the results of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), which Grade 6 learners sat for as part of their transition to junior secondary school in January 2025.
According to KNEC, a total of 965,501 candidates registered for the KCSE exams in 2024.
