Gachagua Reveals He will Work with Karua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed plans to work closely with NARC Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, sparking speculation about a potential new political alliance.

While addressing a gathering at Karua’s home in Gichugu, Gachagua disclosed that he will consult with Karua regularly on national matters.

“I am happy to share that we’ve had a good conversation with Martha Karua, and we have agreed to work together with other Kenyans,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua announced plans to form a strong coalition with Karua and Kenyans from all regions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Now that we are working together, we will create a formidable team, not just in the Mount Kenya region but across the country,” he stated.

The former Deputy President also dismissed claims labeling him and his allies from the Mount Kenya region as tribal, arguing that his political choices prove otherwise.

“It is insulting to this community for the President to go around in meetings calling us tribal. If I were tribal, I would not have supported President William Ruto, and Martha Karua would not have supported Raila Odinga in the 2022 general elections,” he argued.

Gachagua reiterated that he does not regret supporting President William Ruto in the 2022 elections. He emphasized that his decision showcased the Mount Kenya region’s ability to back leaders from diverse backgrounds.

“Unlike those who may regret their vote for Ruto, I believe it was a positive decision that demonstrated we are not tribal,” Gachagua said.

Karua echoed Gachagua’s sentiments, emphasizing the need to unite Kenyans against what she described as an oppressive regime under President Ruto.

“We need everybody—every person of goodwill—to join hands and push back because the rogue Ruto regime is determined to oppress Kenyans. It is a merciless regime that resembles the oppressive colonial government,” Karua stated.

For weeks, Gachagua has been holding meetings at his Wamunyoro residence in Mathira Constituency, reportedly preparing for a major political announcement. However, he indicated that the announcement might be delayed as consultations with like-minded leaders are still ongoing.

The developments have fueled speculation about a broader political coalition that could reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 polls.
