Mutahi Kagwe, William Kabogo, and Lee Kinyanjui have officially assumed their roles as Cabinet Secretaries for Agriculture and Livestock, ICT and Digital Economy, and Investment, Trade, and Industry, respectively.
The three were sworn in on Friday, January 17, in a ceremony held at State House, Nairobi, and presided over by President William Ruto.

Speaking at the event, President Ruto expressed confidence in the appointees, emphasizing their extensive experience in public service.
“Without exception, all three of the new Cabinet Secretaries have extensive and diverse experience in both the executive and legislative facets of the public service. For this reason, I am confident in the skills and capabilities they bring to their roles,” said the President.
Ruto also highlighted his personal and professional relationship with the appointees, recalling their time in Parliament.

“I served with Hon. Kabogo and Hon. Kagwe in the National Assembly when they were elected to the 9th Parliament, and Hon. Kinyanjui later joined the Legislature in the 10th Parliament,” he stated.
The President underscored the leadership credentials of the new Cabinet Secretaries, citing their contributions in various levels of governance.
“Both Kinyanjui and Kabogo have served as chief executives of devolved governments, while Hon. Kagwe has served in the Senate and was a cabinet member in two previous administrations. Both Hon. Kagwe and Hon. Kinyanjui have also chaired the boards of strategic national parastatals,” Ruto added.
In his address, Ruto tasked the appointees with upholding integrity and excellence in their roles.

“I urge you to live up to the oath you have just taken, every day: to obey, respect, and uphold the Constitution and all laws; to serve the people with honour and dignity; and to hold your office with the highest integrity,” said Ruto.
The President pledged his support for the new Cabinet Secretaries, assuring them of the resources and encouragement needed to deliver on their mandates.
“For my part, I pledge to provide you with all the support, encouragement, and resources you need to excel in your duties and deliver for the people of Kenya,” he concluded.
