Jamaican dancehall sensation Chris Martin is in Kenya ahead of the much anticipated “Sounds from Africa” festival, set to take place this Saturday 8th February at Uhuru Gardens. The celebrated artist, known for hits like “Weekend Love,” expressed his excitement at returning to the country, which he fondly refers to as his “adopted home.”
This is the second time he is in Kenya having first performed in the country in 2010. Martin has built a strong connection with Kenyan music lovers over the years. Reflecting on his journey, he acknowledged the unwavering support of his Kenyan fans.
“I’m happy to be back again. I first came here 15 years ago, and Kenyans have consistently shown me nothing but love since then. I have a deep admiration for my Kenyan fans, and I’m glad that, after all these years, they’ve continued to stand by me and support my music,” he shared.
Thousands of Chris Martins’s Kenyan fans who are expecting the Jamaican star deliver an electrifying performance are expected to throng the Uhuru gardens as early as noon.
While fans are excited to see him perform live, his arrival comes with a side serving of controversy, his latest track, “Wife & Sweetheart,” has sparked major debate online.
During the event, music thirsty fans will be expecting him to perform his biggest hit tracks which includes “Cheater’s Prayer”, which is a powerful song dedicated to fidelity and temptation, and “Let Her Go” that highlights his smooth vocals and capturing story. The romantic single “Weekend Love” is still loved by many fans and so are the rest of the songs “Paper Loving”, “Big Deal”, which established him as a dancehall giant. His songs “Under the Influence”, “Mama”, and “Better Than The Stars” show his range from reggae to dancehall to R&B. His collaborations with Etana in songs like, “Dreams of Brighter Days” and “Come Where You Going” are also classics. “I’m A Big Deal”, his motivational song became an anthem of self-esteem.
