President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is accorded due respect in Kenya.
Speaking on Friday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and ODM, Ruto emphasized his determination to foster mutual respect and cooperation with Odinga.
“Several months after the election, I reached out to my brother Raila. I acknowledged that he has been my senior and a party leader. I assured him that I would do everything possible to ensure he is treated with dignity in this country,” Ruto stated.
He commended Odinga for his dedication to national unity and his long-standing efforts in advocating for the rights of Kenyans.
“History will remember you kindly for your contributions,” he added.
The MoU signed by the two leaders outlines their commitment to working together in addressing key national issues. They pledged to fully implement the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report and ensure that all Kenyans are included in governance and resource allocation.
Additionally, the agreement underscores the need to safeguard devolution by preventing any rollback on devolved functions, securing adequate funding, and guaranteeing timely disbursement of resources.
