The Kenya Roads Board (KRB) has disbursed over Ksh3.68 billion to counties across the country for road maintenance under the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF) for the 2024/25 financial year.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, July 22, KRB directed all counties to submit detailed work plans for the allocated funds to its regional offices and via email by Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

“County Governments are required to submit detailed work plans for the amount released to respective KRB Regional Offices in Kisumu, Nyeri, Garissa, Eldoret, Isiolo, Nakuru, Kakamega & Machakos and email to [email protected] by Tuesday, 12th August 2025,” the notice read in part.

Nakuru County received the highest allocation at Ksh183.4 million, followed by Kitui (Ksh152.4 million), Makueni (Ksh146.8 million), and Nairobi (Ksh120 million). Other top allocations included Kiambu (Ksh117.5 million), Machakos (Ksh111.1 million), Kajiado (Ksh106.5 million), and Meru (Ksh105.8 million).

Counties receiving just over Ksh100 million include Nyeri (Ksh100.3 million), Narok (Ksh97.3 million), and Murang’a (Ksh92.1 million). Wajir was allocated Ksh90.5 million, while Turkana, Marsabit, Kakamega, and Laikipia each received allocations between Ksh80 million and Ksh88 million.

At the lower end of the list, Vihiga received the least funding at Ksh37.5 million, followed by Nyamira at Ksh41.4 million, and Busia at Ksh45.5 million. Mombasa received Ksh45.6 million, Lamu Ksh47.4 million, and Trans Nzoia Ksh52.8 million.

Other allocations include Garissa (Ksh63.8 million), Mandera (Ksh66 million), Samburu (Ksh60.8 million), Kisumu (Ksh68.3 million), Homabay (Ksh61 million), Migori (Ksh56.9 million), and Kisii (Ksh60.7 million).

Counties are now expected to finalize and submit their plans to access and utilize the funds for road repair and maintenance activities across the 47 devolved units.
