The Kenya’s Council of Governors (CoG) has officially announced that the 2025 Devolution Conference will be held in Homa Bay from August 12 to 14. The highly anticipated event that brings together all the 47 counties will provide a platform to showcase the achievements of devolution in Kenya while addressing ongoing challenges in governance and development since the inception of the adoption of the 2010 constitution and devolution.
While making the announcement, CoG vice chairperson and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, named the co-chairperson of the Multi-Agency Steering Committee tasked with organizing the event. The committee comprises representatives from various key institutions, including the Office of the Deputy President, the Senate, the County Assemblies Forum, the Youth Council, and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance, among others.
Confirming that the preparations for the event are in full swing, with registration for participants set to begin in March, governor Kahiga emphasized the importance of this conference in fostering knowledge-sharing, networking, and partnerships that will bolster devolution efforts across the country.
The CoG also stated that to enhance participant engagement, a dedicated website and mobile application are under development. These platforms will provide real-time updates on the conference, streamline logistics, and offer delegates access to schedules, speaker details, and session highlights
The 2025 Devolution Conference is expected to attract a diverse mix of stakeholders, including government officials, policy experts, private sector leaders, and community-based organizations. It serves as a critical platform for evaluating the progress of devolution and charting a path toward more effective governance and equitable development in Kenya.
The conference will be themed “For the People; For Prosperity: Devolution as a Catalyst for Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice.”
