The much-anticipated homecoming celebration for Kisii Governor Simba Arati, following his elevation to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s leadership, has been postponed.

ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale released a statement on the development, noting that the thanksgiving event initially slated for Thursday, November 28, at Gusii Stadium would no longer take place as planned.
The party attributed the postponement to “unforeseen circumstances” but assured members that a new date would be announced.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, the Thanksgiving Ceremony for HE Hon. Simba Arati, the Deputy Party Leader, has been postponed to a later date. A new date will be announced in due course. We apologize for the inconvenience caused,” the statement read.
Arati is one of Raila Odinga’s close allies entrusted with leading ODM after the veteran politician announced a pause in his local political activities to pursue his bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
The Kisii Governor was appointed ODM deputy party leader alongside Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi. The trio succeeded former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and ex-Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who were recently appointed to President William Ruto’s Cabinet.
Other leaders taking key roles in ODM’s reorganization include Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, who now serves as the party leader, and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who was named the party’s national chairperson.
