Government Unveils Bold Plan to Transform Nairobi into a Global City

Date:

President William Ruto today unveiled a bold and comprehensive plan aimed at transforming Nairobi into a world-class city, with major infrastructure upgrades set to reshape the capital’s future and boost its global competitiveness.

Speaking during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Bridge Savannah–Stage 17–Masimba Road, which cuts across Embakasi Central and Embakasi East, President Ruto announced that the government has embarked on the first phase of a transformative urban development program. The project includes the construction of at least 70 kilometres of new and rehabilitated roads within the city to ease traffic congestion, facilitate trade, and promote inclusive economic growth.

“We have rolled out a comprehensive plan that will change the face of Nairobi to make it a top global hub,” President Ruto stated. He emphasized that modern infrastructure is the foundation of any thriving metropolis and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable urban planning, mobility, and service delivery for all Nairobi residents.

The road projects are expected to open up key economic zones, decongest existing arteries, and attract both local and international investors to Kenya’s capital.
