The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) has announced the closure of two institutions in Migori County.
Cambridge Universal College in Isebania and Yolifa Institute of Business Studies in Rongo Town ceased operations on January 20 and January 21, 2025, respectively.
The closures were due to the institutions’ failure to meet the registration and accreditation standards as stipulated under Section 17 of the TVET Act Cap 210A.
TVETA has urged parents and guardians to verify the registration status of institutions before enrolling their children in any training programs. An online platform for this purpose is available at www.tveta.go.ke/accredited-tvet-institutions.
Inquiries can also be made via email at [email protected] or by phone at +254-20-2392140 and +254-700-015-440.
“The public is reminded that TVET Authority is committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and relevant training across all technical and vocational institutions in Kenya,” the statement concludes.
TVETA is a state corporation established in Kenya under the TVET Act of 2013.
Its primary role is to regulate and coordinate the TVET sector by licensing, registering, and accrediting training institutions and programs.
TVETA also promotes access to vocational training, ensures quality standards, and advises the government on training policies.
Additionally, the authority develops frameworks for quality assurance and oversees compliance with national training objectives.
