The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) has announced a revision of its DNA testing charges, with the cost rising from Ksh20,000 to Ksh27,000. The change takes effect in January 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, January 8, KEMRI stated, “We wish to inform our valued customers of a marginal price adjustment for the DNA Testing Service from Ksh20,000 to Ksh27,000 starting this January 2025. KEMRI’s Human DNA Identification Laboratory (HID Laboratory) offers DNA testing services to private clients and referrals from courts. The facility is recognized for adhering to international standards, ensuring quality and reliable services.

The laboratory provides DNA testing for paternity and family relationship verification. It also offers training on DNA testing to enhance capacity building both locally and regionally.
DNA tests offered by KEMRI can be used for legal purposes or personal knowledge, depending on the client’s intent.
