The Ministry of Education, through the State Department for Basic Education, has announced 1,000 internship opportunities under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 4.
In a notice published in the Tuesday, June 25 issue of My Gov, the Public Service Commission (PSC) said successful candidates will be posted to schools at the sub-county level to support virtual learning and other digital platforms.
The PSC noted that the interns will not only gain hands-on skills and experience, but will also play a vital role in advancing the government’s digital learning agenda.
To qualify, applicants must have graduated no earlier than 2020 and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialisation in Information Communication Technology (ICT), or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT.
Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education from a recognised institution will also be considered. They should be proficient in areas such as networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management.
Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to integrate ICT in education, particularly in e-learning and content development, and show capacity for innovation and research to support the DLP.
Successful applicants must be ready to serve full-time in any sub-county education office across the country.
According to the PSC, the interns’ responsibilities will include supporting e-learning and content development in line with school schemes of work, training primary school teachers on digital literacy devices, and offering classroom support.
They will also help implement the Digital Learning Programme, promote ethical and secure technology use in schools, and provide first-line ICT support and maintenance.
Additionally, interns will assist teachers in integrating ICT into teaching, learning, and assessment, and help staff develop and produce key school policies and procedures.
The internship will run for 12 months, with interns receiving a monthly stipend from the State Department, at a rate to be determined by the government. Upon successful completion, each intern will be issued a certificate.
Interested and qualified candidates must submit their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal at www.publicservice.go.ke, www.psckjobs.go.ke, or www.pscims.publicservice.go.ke/jobs by June 23, 2025.
