President William Ruto’s tour to the Northeastern region is an ideal definition of the saying that says a guest is a blessing in the house. The head of state started his tour on Tuesday 4th 2025 in Mandera county and presided over the launching and commissioning of several projects in the county with the area residents open handedly receiving the goodies with open hands.

We have compiled a list of President William Ruto’s projects and gifts to the larger Mandera count

  1. Construction of a 500-capacity hostel at Mandera Technical Training Institute (TTI).
  2. Development of 6 markets worth Sh1.8 billion to boost local commerce.
  3. Establishment of a Sh500 million aggregation centre for agricultural produce.
  4. Allocation of Sh25 million for the construction of classrooms at Mandera TTI.
  5. Government funding for the 68km Modogashe – Samatar Road.
  6. Construction of the 73km Rhamu to Mandera road to enhance regional connectivity.
  7. Development of schools and water projects along the 740km Isiolo – Mandera road.
  8. Allocation of Sh1.3 billion for electricity projects in off-grid towns.
  9. Sh2.6 billion allocated for electrification projects in Mandera County this financial year.
  10. Completion of the Sh3.1 billion Mandera Sewerage and Water Project.
  11. Restocking livestock for 1,000 families to enhance food security.
  12. Elimination of discrimination in ID vetting for Kenyans from Northeastern.
  13. Reopening of Passport Application Office in the Northeastern region.
  14. Connecting Mandera to the National Grid through Ethiopia for reliable power supply.
  15. Completion of Moi Stadium in Mandera for sports and recreation.
  16. Support for irrigation projects along the River Daawa to boost agricultural productivity.
  17. Construction of 3,000 units under the Affordable Housing Programme in Mandera.

Northeastern has been lagging behind compared to other regions due to various reasons including security factors and Ruto has promised to make a distinguishing change during his one-week tour. During the visit, the President will travers through Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo and Garissa counties.
