The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new fuel prices that will take effect from August 15, 2025, to September 14, 2025.

In the latest review released on August 14, EPRA said the prices of super petrol and kerosene will drop by Sh1 per litre, while diesel will remain unchanged.

In Nairobi, motorists will now pay Sh185.31 for super petrol, Sh171.58 for diesel, and Sh155.58 for kerosene. In Mombasa, the prices will be Sh182.03, Sh168.30, and Sh152.29 respectively.

Super petrol will retail at Sh184.35 in Nakuru, with diesel at Sh170.97 and kerosene at Sh155.01. In Eldoret, prices will be Sh185.17, Sh171.80, and Sh155.83, while in Kisumu they will be Sh185.16, Sh171.78, and Sh155.83 respectively.

EPRA said the prices include the sixteen per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and revised excise duty rates adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

Motorists using diesel will see no relief in costs, while those using petrol and kerosene will experience only slight savings.

Last month, fuel prices rose sharply by Sh8.99 for petrol, Sh8.67 for diesel, and Sh9.65 for kerosene due to higher freight costs. Shipping lines had increased charges in response to security threats in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil and gas transit route.

The waterway handles about twenty per cent of the world’s daily oil consumption and liquefied natural gas trade, making it a vital chokepoint in global energy supply chains
